LKJ Research offer bespoke independent research on topics that really matter, as well as award-winning training and knowledge exchange.

People are at the heart of what we do, and our methods are designed to make the research process as comfortable, respectful, and ethical as it can be.

We are specialists in sensitive and challenging narratives with marginalised or vulnerable groups. All our projects offer practical suggestions or recommendations for ways to apply what has been learnt and maximise the impact of the research.

Whether a small or a large project, LKJ is open to commissions and consultancy on the whole research journey from design to dissemination.

She is a skilled interviewer, with expertise in sensitive interviewing around potentially difficult and traumatic subjects. As a former support-worker, she favours applied research seeking to improve conditions for marginalised or vulnerable communities and has a strong track record of research around inequality and men’s violence against women.

Before becoming a researcher, Laura was a freelance writer and has worked produced at venues including the Lowry Theatre, The Octagon Bolton, and Liverpool Everyman. She brings this talent for communication to knowledge exchange and training, and in 2021 she was awarded the Stephen Fry Award for Engaged Early Career Researcher of the Year for her work in public engagement. She is interested in exciting and innovative ways of communicating research to different audiences and engaging a range of stakeholders with the key messages.
